Orca Bay Week 6

I’ve been working on the Bonnie Hunter Orca Bay mystery for the past 6 weeks.  It has been wonderful, not only to sew on beautiful fabrics that you have no idea how they will go together, but also for the fellowship of sewing on the same project as quilters all over the world!  Thank you Bonnie!  Below is a picture of selected steps.  I believe I know how they all go together but I’ve carefully not arranged them that way so that I don’t spoil anyone’s surprise.

Below is a photo for a wallhanging that I made for DD#1 for Christmas.  She spent 3 weeks this past summer on a research project in Kenya and brought back some fabrics from Nairobi.  They have been combined with other African fabrics pieces that I had and American fabrics with African motifs.  It was a very freeing experience to not have a pre-arranged idea of how everything would turn out.
